Welcome to our home on the Web!  This site will continue to evolve as we fill it up with of new content. So stay tuned for lots of useful stuff to come!

The McGill Qualitative Health Research Group (MQHRG) was founded in January 2003 by a group of qualitative researchers from McGill University with the intention of providing an informal yet rigorous learning environment for Qualitative Health Researchers at McGill.  Today, MQHRG has an active membership of more than 60 qualitative researchers and students from across McGill, the MUHC and has grown to include other Montreal universities.

This group meets approximately every six weeks, mostly at Lady Meredith House (corner of Peel and Pine Ave). The meeting time slot is always 3-5pm; however the room and day of the week shifts frequently. Email updates are sent to all members prior to each meeting.

Meetings are two hours, and generally include the following:

  • A critical review of a research project, protocol or student proposal (students, or researchers on tight time lines, are always given priority)

  • A seminar on an issue in qualitative methodology (chosen the meeting prior). Usually there is a short reading for homework, sent out via email, to ground these discussions.
MQHRG is a Collaborating Site of the International Institute for Qualitative Inquiry (IIQI)
